What You Need If You Are Bringing a Car into Washington State:

  • You must obtain a Washington State driver's license or ID before transferring your vehicle. You have 30 days to complete this once you arrive in the state.

  • No Sales tax applicable if owned in another state for 90 days or more. If owned less than 90 days provide proof of sales tax paid.

  • Original title or copy from current lien holder if applicable. Copies can be faxed to our office at 509.455.2826

  • If we request your title from your lienholder we will require the lienholder fax # and the owner account number.

  • Leased vehicles and Kansas titles require additional information. Please call us (509.455.8320) for further clarification.

  • If your current title does not reflect a date that represents ownership of more than 90 days then additional documentation will be necessary to avoid paying use tax. Please call us (509.455.8320) for more information.

What Will You Need to License Your Vehicle?

  • A Washington Driver’s License.

  • Manufacturer’s Statement/Certificate of Origin, if new vehicle.

  • Current title and registration. For titles held by lien holder, you will need a fax or photocopy of the title being held by the lien holder. For lost titles, you will need to apply for a duplicate from the statue of issuance.

  • Registered owners must bring identification. If vehicle is from another state and there will be no change in registered owners, only one registered owner’s signature is needed.

  • Odometer Disclosure is needed on 2011 vehicles and newer when applicable. Both you and the previous owner must sign the odometer disclosure statement when you are titling and licensing your newly acquired vehicle.

  • The weight of your vehicle (Travel trailers excluded).

  • Licensing Fees & Taxes.
